Ahhhh! It is holiday time in the Florida Keys and that means lots of fun in the sun and on the water. There is something for everyone here in the Keys.
To start the season out in the Upper Keys, make sure to stop by the Florida Keys Holiday Festival on Decemer 4th. This extravaganza begins with a tree-lighting ceremony at Founders Park (MM 87 / Bayside) followed by a holiday parade, featuring Santa and continues with a holiday gift bazaar and silent auction of ornaments decorated by local artists.
For a more tropical feel, stop by A Lignumvitae Christmas on December 5th and 6th from 9 AM to 3 PM at the historic Matheson House on Lignumvitae Key. Handmade trimmings and homemade treats are to be on hand for visitors. Take the short boat ride to Lignumvitae Key from Robbie's (MM 77.5 / Bayside)
Be sure not to miss the Holiday Boat Parade on December 12th where Blackwater Sound will shimmer as decorated boats parade along the shorelin in celebration of the holiday season. The best viewing and libations are to be found at Sundowners, Senor Frijoles, the Marriott Key Largo Bay Resort, Caribbean Club and Jimmy Johnson's Big Chill (MM 103 to 104 / Bayside).
And you absolutely can't miss the The Arts Foundation 4th annual production of CocoNutcracker on December 19th at 2 PM and 7 PM at the Coral Shores Performing Arts Center (MM 91 / Oceanside). The cast is all local dance student's and admission is FREE!
